Why liver support matters
The liver is your dog's main processing hub. It's involved in digestion, hormone balance, immune regulation, and clearing out everyday waste products from normal metabolism, medication, and general day-to-day life. Dogs today are exposed to a bit more chemical load than they used to be, through processed foods, household products, and routine medications, so giving the liver a bit of extra daily support can be a sensible part of a proactive health routine, particularly for dogs doing more of that processing work than others.
Who this is worth considering for:
- Dogs on long-term medications, such as NSAIDs, steroids, or regular parasite prevention
- Dogs with elevated liver enzymes (used alongside your vet's guidance, not instead of it)
- Senior dogs
- Dogs recovering from illness, anaesthesia, or a period of unwellness
- Dogs eating a lot of processed food
- Dogs with sluggish digestion, poor bile flow, or difficulty with fatty meals
What's in the formula
- NAC (N-Acetylcysteine) and L-glutathione support the liver's own antioxidant and detoxification processes, helping maintain healthy liver cell function.
- Glycine works alongside these to support the liver's natural conjugation pathways, the process by which the liver packages up waste products for safe removal.
- Milk thistle (silymarin) is one of the more established liver support ingredients, used for its role in protecting liver cells and supporting healthy bile production.
- TUDCA is a naturally occurring bile acid that supports healthy bile flow, important since bile is one of the main routes the body uses to clear fat-soluble waste. This can be especially relevant for dogs with sluggish digestion or a history of gallbladder issues.
- Carnosine helps intercept some of the reactive compounds (AGEs) that form when food is heavily processed at high heat, common in many commercial pet foods.
- Broccoli sprout extract (sulforaphane) supports the body's own natural antioxidant defences.
- Chlorella and humic/fulvic acids support gut barrier health and the body's natural ability to bind and clear certain compounds through the digestive tract.
- A small amount of GABA is included to support general calm and healthy nervous system tone, working alongside the formula's other ingredients.
A gentle, daily approach
This isn't a fasting-based cleanse or a harsh purge. It's designed for ongoing daily use, supporting the liver's normal workload quietly in the background rather than forcing a rapid reaction. No fasting required, and it's formulated to be gentle enough for everyday use.
A few things worth knowing
- Can this be used alongside medications? In most cases, yes, and it's often used specifically to support dogs on longer-term medication. If your dog is on a medication with a narrow safety margin, or has advanced liver disease, please check with your vet before starting.
- Can this be given with other supplements? Yes, it pairs well with gut support supplements, omega-3s, and general antioxidant or anti-inflammatory support.
- Does it cause a detox reaction? No, it's designed to support gentle, balanced liver function rather than force a rapid release of anything, so it shouldn't cause an adverse reaction in most dogs.
As always, if your dog has a diagnosed liver condition or is on medication, please check with your vet before adding anything new. This is a support tool alongside good feeding practices and veterinary care, not a replacement for either.
