Vet-formulated joint, skin and coat support. Made in New Zealand.
Stiff mornings. Slower walks. That little pause before jumping into the car. If your dog’s joints are starting to show some mileage, Nuvetra Advanced Joint Support is one of the most thoughtfully put-together joint supplements available in NZ.
It was created by Kiwi vet Dr Rebecca Walker, who couldn’t find a joint supplement she fully trusted for her own dog. So she made one.
No secret blends. No token doses. Every active ingredient is listed with its exact amount, and those amounts are there to do a job, not just to look good on the label.
What’s in each capsule
Omega-3 (VivoMega® 4030TG), 1225 mg providing 490 mg EPA and 367 mg DHA. Natural triglyceride form from sardines and anchovies, purified to remove heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs.
Green-lipped mussel oil, 40 mg (a 125:1 extract, equivalent to 5000 mg of fresh mussel). New Zealand’s own marine nutrient, rich in natural lipids that support joint comfort and mobility.
PEA (palmitoylethanolamide), 100 mg. A natural fatty compound the body already makes, used to support a normal, healthy inflammatory response.
Curcumin (HydroCurc®), 100 mg. A highly absorbable form of turmeric’s active compound, chosen to work alongside the omega-3s.
Why we rate it
Proper omega-3 levels. At the recommended dose your dog gets around 86 mg of EPA + DHA per kg of body weight, which is in line with the levels vets commonly use for joint support.
Several angles at once. Marine oils, PEA and curcumin each support comfort and mobility in different ways, so you’re not relying on one ingredient to do all the work.
Clean and transparent. Human-grade ingredients, made in a NZ facility that also produces nutritional products for people.
Bonus skin and coat support. All that omega-3 shows up as a softer, glossier coat too.
Great for
Senior dogs who are slowing down
Active, sporty and working dogs
Large and giant breeds carrying more weight on their joints
Dogs recovering from cruciate or other orthopaedic surgery (alongside your vet’s plan)
Dogs with dry skin or a dull coat
Raw and fresh-fed dogs needing a quality omega-3 source
How to use
Give 1 capsule per 10 kg of body weight, once daily, with food
Give whole, or snip the capsule and squeeze the oil over dinner
Using more than one capsule? Split the dose between morning and night
No loading dose needed. Consistency is what counts
Many owners notice changes in mobility, coat or energy within a few weeks
Already giving fish oil? Nuvetra is your fish oil. Don’t double up unless your nutritionist or vet has suggested it.
How long will a box last?
Box size | 10 kg dog | 20 kg dog | 30 kg dog | 40 kg dog |
60 capsules | 2 months | 1 month | 3 weeks | 2 weeks |
120 capsules | 4 months | 2 months | 6 weeks | 1 month |
Good to know
Not suitable for dogs with a known seafood or shellfish allergy
Check with your vet first if your dog is pregnant or nursing, on medication (especially anti-inflammatories or blood thinners), has an underlying health condition, or has surgery coming up
The capsules are on the larger side because they’re packed with active ingredients. Snipping and squeezing works well for small dogs
The oil can stain fabric, so keep capsules away from puppies who like to chew things they shouldn’t
Store in a cool, dry place
Nuvetra is a nutritional supplement and isn’t a replacement for veterinary care
Other ingredients (capsule shell): gelatin, glycerol, purified water, hydrogenated vegetable oil, beeswax, lecithin, natural colours (iron oxides).
Kat’s Note
Joints don’t exist in isolation. A dog eating real, species-appropriate food, kept lean and moving every day, gives any joint supplement a much better foundation to work from. Nuvetra is the one I’d reach for when a dog needs more than diet alone can offer, because I can see exactly what’s in it and the doses actually make sense. If you’re not sure where it fits in your dog’s plan, flick me a message.
